Idol Results - Mar 8, 2012

Results last night pitted the lowest scoring three boys against the lowest scoring three girls. One from each group would have the lowest votes and be in danger of going home. Judges Randy, JayLo and Steven Tyler would have the final say on which to save and which one send home. The boys included: Joshua Ledet, Jermaine Jones and Jeremy Rosado.

Ok, I have to say that from the many years of watching this show, the one thing I have learned is, you never can count on the voters to do the right thing. Never assume ANYONE is safe. Each year there are at least 2 contestants that are surprisingly eliminated. That is why you must always support your favorites. Last night wasn't too much of a surprise. Two nights ago I didn't pick who I thought the lowest three guys would be, I just picked who I thought would be in danger of going home. I didn't see Joshua Ledet or Jeremy Rosado being in the bottom three, but they were. Eventually, Joshua and Jermaine rejoined the others, leaving Jeremy as the lowest scoring guy.

As for the lowest scoring three girls, Elise Testone (no surprise), Erika Van Pelt (a little surprised, but I have to remind myself of the demography of viewers; mostly young girls and families. Young girl voters mess this whole voting thing up. Not often do they vote for the best singer, they vote for the cutest...someone they can relate to. Erika Van Pelt is a bit older and definitely more mature, so I shouldn't have been surprised at all!) and finally, Shannon Magrane. Shannon and Erika were eventually judged to be safe and rejoined the other contestants that would forward one more week.

So the bottom two people were Jeremy Rosado and Elise Testone. Which of these two did I think should go home? Well, the judges decided Elise should have another chance. I was a little disappointed. I think Jeremy is a good singer.

The bottom line is, you never know how this contest will evolve, even when you think you do. I am forced to keep changing my favorites. Perfect example is last season's winner. Scotty McCreery wasn't my first, second or third pick, but I did end up hoping he would win only because he lived 12 miles from me. I did think Lauren Alaina was the better singer.

Stay tuned boys and girls!
